In the third of three sessions about battery technology from Tekna Fagråd Agder we will learn about recycling of batteries from Thore Sørensen from Resitec, and about batteries and sustainability from Reyn O'Born from the University of Agder.

In part one of this session Thore Sørensen from Resitec will talk about recycling. Lithium-ion batteries contain valuable elements, many defined as critical to the green shift. With time, everything that is produced end up as scrap.

Governmental regulations and the value of the materials means that this must be recirculated. Preferably back into the battery value chain. The new battery factories, universities (including UiA), and research institutes in Norway and all over the world are working on this. The goal is reduced cost, use of chemicals and CO2-footprint by developing better processes.

In this session you will learn about who is involved in this, state-of-the art, and the research front where Norway is a forerunner.

Part two of the session wil be hosted by Reyn O'Born from the University of Agder. He will talk about batteries and sustainability. The lecture will focus on sustainability aspects of the entire battery value chain. O'Bourne will illustrate the sustainability aspects from production to recycling.

Hybrid course

The course will be held at the University of Agder i Kristiansand in Auditorium KRS B 1007, and it will be streamed via the UiA webpage as well. Link to the stream will be distributed to the attendees two days before the course.

Food will be served before the session starts at approx. 17.00 at Lilletunstova in the cafeteria.

About the lecturer

Thore Sørensen is working as a senior process engineer at Resitec. Thore’s background is a master’s degree in physics from the University of Oslo and PhD within chemical process (crystallization) technology from NTNU, both in Norway. He has wide experience within R&D from both research institutes and the process industry. His main expertise is process technology including chemical reactors and separation technology spanning from pharmaceuticals to hydro metallurgy

The Battery Sessions

You have to register for the courses seperately, and the courses wil NOT be recorded.

Back to school

Tekna Fagråd Agder have during recent years given lectures about new topics for Tekna members in collaboration with the Univeristy of Agder and relevant local industry. These lectures have been a great success, especially the digital courses we had during the pandemic. In 2022 we have had one lecture about Esport, and now this series about batteries.
